Before some months I asked for a solution to the following task:
Find a cloud solution for multiple small SQL Server Express 2008 R2 databases.
I was recommended to use MS Azure Virtual machine and install SQL Server Express on it in order to pay according to storage space and not according to number of databases.
Yesterday I read this post http://blog.merrycode.com/installing-sql-server-express-2008-r2-on-windows-azure-cloud-and-its-usage-scenarios/ in which the writer explains "Why installing SQL Server on the Azure virtual machine is not recommended?". The reason is the risk of data loss. The writer says that the data is not backed up and in several circumstances you can lose your data.
If backup issue is important to me - should I use Azure SQL database?
Will my data be safe and backed up by MS when choosing this solution ?
