Hey Everyone,
I am inquiring about setting up my own SQL Server on a cloud environment, most likely Amazon Web Services. I am still very much a novice in the field of Information Technology. I've been tampering with computers since I was a kid but only recently taken it up as a true profession. I've learned much about I.T. systems and even more recently databases/SQL. I have currently been working with Microsoft systems and databases for just 2 years now.
I want to learn more and practice by setting up my own virtual environment. I want to run a virtual server that can host my own edition of SQL Server(at least 2008) and Business Intelligence Design Studio(BIDS) accompanied with it. Down the road I definitely would love to practice setting up multiple servers with different purposes!
What I am truly asking for in this post is some advice on setting up a SQL Server, by which I mean the whole process;
Is SQL Server easily configurable on a cloud environment like Amazon Web Services?
What edition of SQL Server should I go with if I want to use BIDS with SSIS?
Does anyone have any relevant advice they would like to share?
I thank you all for reading my post, I know that your contributions will benefit me greatly as they have in the past. Please just let me know if you would like further elaboration from my inquiry!
